Across 2014 OGC, ISO T211 and IHO worked in collaboration to develop the Guide to the Role of Geospatial Standards and the associated Technical Companion Document (links can be found below). At the 5th Meeting of the Committee of Experts in 2015 these two documents were formally adopted "as the international geospatial standards best practice for spatial data infrastructure, and encouraged all Member States to adopt and implement the recommended standards appropriate to their countries’ level of spatial data infrastructure (SDI) maturity" resolution 5/108.
As technology innovation continues to develop it is now time to revise these documents and update. The meeting will be focused on reviewing the documents and identifying the key areas for update as well as confirming a schedule for 2018 that will ensure the updated documents are ready to be presented to the Committee of Experts in August to be endorsed once again."
