Come and join us for the 114th OGC Technical Committee meeting. Hosted by Natural Resources Canada. This will be an amazing week with a broad range of meetings and topics being discussed. You don't have to be an OGC member to attend an OGC meeting. Whilst some meetings will be member only, many are open to anyone to attend and new voices are always welcome.
Meeting Location:
Downtown Ottawa contains a wide variety of restaurants. Popular streets close to the downtown core for restaurants include Bank Street and Elgin Street. The Byward Market also contains many options.
The Rideau Centre, attached to the Shaw Centre, contains a large food court and multiple other restaurants.
Some travelers to Canada require an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to enter the country. The process to obtain an eTA is described here. Most applications are approved within minutes.
Look at this site to determine if you require an eTA.
NOTE U.S. citizens are EXEMPT from the eTA requirement.
The Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) serves Ottawa.
Ride sharing, taxi, and car rental services are available at the airport for transportation to downtown. Taxis do not need to be called as there is a stand.
Public transportation is also available (OC Transpo bus connecting to Line 1 rail).
Via Rail provides service between Ottawa and major airport hubs in Montreal and Toronto.
Ottawa's Line 1 LRT connects the Via Rail station with the downtown core (westbound trains towards Tunney's Pasture).
Ride sharing and taxi service is also available from the Via station.
NOTE that recent protests have affected Via service between Toronto and Ottawa. These may or may not continue into March.
LRT trains are available to travel from western and eastern portions of Ottawa to the Shaw Centre. The closest station to the Shaw Centre is Rideau.
It is also possible to take buses to the Shaw Centre. As various options are available, consult OC Transpo's Travel Planner.
Additional information regarding public transportation in Ottawa is available from OC Transpo.
Uber and Lyft offer service within Ottawa.
Multiple traditional taxi companies are also available (e.g. Blue Line, Capital, City Cab). Taxi stands are located throughout downtown, including close to many hotels.
Parking is available at the Shaw Centre. Daily rates (12 hours) are around $20 CAD.
Downtown Ottawa is quite walkable with most attractions and restaurants within a short distance of many hotels.
The Shaw Centre is within easy walking distance of most hotels in the downtown.
Prepare for Winter! March is generally cool in Ottawa with average high/low temperatures of 2/-7 degrees Celsius. Early March will likely be on the cooler side and it will probably snow. Bring warm boots and clothing to avoid getting cold!
