Exploring the Future: Geospatial Web Services for Infrastructure and Buildings
March 21-23, 2007 - Melrose Hotel - 2430 Pennsylvania Ave. NW - Washington, D.C.
Presented by the Open Geospatial Consortium and the Geospatial Information & Technology Association

Conference Overview
Around the world, information about infrastructure and buildings are increasingly gaining the attention of organizations involved in architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) as well as the owners and operators of buildings and other structures. New collaborations are shaping information flows and business processes in the AEC industry, and the Geospatial software and AEC software industries are converging on solutions for urban information systems. Developments to create a U.S. National Building Information Model Standard (NBIMS) for information exchange of building information, technical innovations within the 3D community, and new homeland security and defense requirements are fueling a solid basis for these communities to come together. This Summit highlighted some of the long standing challenges that have begun to be resolved with collaborative solutions that advance all markets.

NBIMS

At this Summit, experts provided information on the U.S. National BIM Standard released for industry review on March 13 (see the following files: main body of the document and appendices and references). As well as, in-depth information on the results of OGC's OWS-4 test bed thread that dealt with CAD/GIS and BIM integration and the progress made in converging information and technology during 2006, and that are now under consideration by Consortium membership.
